Gary's rods are finally here.
It was in July that
Temple Fork Outfitters dropped its bombshell on the tackle world, announcing that it was working with angling legend Gary Loomis to produce a new line of spinning and casting rods.
"Beyond his obvious talents," TFO President Rick Pope said, "Gary is fully committed to helping us grow participation in fishing. He believes that the 'affordable high
performance' approach we have used so successfully in fly-fishing, combined with our commitment to customer service, forms a great base for growth. He wants to advance performance of our rods, and he certainly has the know-how to do so."
The chance to build great rods at great prices was hard to resist, Gary said.
"All I have ever wanted to do was build the best rods available for everyone to fish," Gary said. "Through TFO, I am able to deliver a true performance rod that once cost three times as much."
Yes, the company scored a real coup by recruiting one of the great masters. Imagine: cutting-edge sticks for under $100. A lot of people have been hoping to get their hands on these fast-action beauties ever since.
Well, the waiting is over. The first shipment of Gary's rods, which will sell for $99.95, is scheduled to arrive in TFO's Dallas warehouse this week, and retailers should be getting their orders shortly. This shipment is composed of one-piece saltwater rods
(see the list below). The freshwater models will follow very soon.
