My BVKs were waiting when I got home from a long road trip late Friday night: a 9-foot 5-weight, a 9-foot 6-weight, a 9-foot 7-weight and a 9-foot 8-weight. I was bushed, so I didn't find time to cast until Sunday afternoon. Well, I'm going to stand by my earlier comments: The BVKs are incredible. They are light, and they are responsive. A joy to cast. And when you consider the price, these rods are absolutely unbelievable.
How unbelievable?
I managed last week to put a BVK 7-weight in the hands of two exceptional casters at the Federation of Fly Fishers conclave in Mountain Home, Ark., and I asked them to rate the rod and guess its price. $600, they said. Had they not known they were casting a TFO, I've no doubt they would have guessed more. So imagine their surprise when I said $249.95.
I have only one concern about the BVKs: I worry that there won't be enough to go around, so you'd better not dawdle. Get down to your dealer, and pick up your new BVK today.
