Tri-Shear: A Cut Above The Rest

There's no need to struggle cutting the toughest fishing lines anymore.

Tri-Shear easily cuts toughest lines
There was once an era when trimming fishing line was a rather minor task. Most of us were spooling up with light nylon monofilament, and a simple pair of fingernail clips did the job pretty well. For the heavier lines, we had pliers. The cuts weren't always perfect, but they were usually good enough. It wasn't until "super braids" were introduced that we began to understand the shortcomings of our tools.

The super braids made cutting line a mainstream problem. If you've ever used the stuff, you know what I'm talking about. You don't actually cut braid with most tools; it's more like chewing your way through. That is, unless you're using a Tri-Shear from JS Products. The Tri-Shear cuts through the toughest lines with ease. With braided Kevlar and Spectra, you get a clean cut; even multi-strand wire is easy. If you're skeptical, check out this video from Sam Root over at Salty Shores.

Made of aircraft quality aluminum with stainless steel internal hardware, the Tri-Shear features a unique cutting head that provides a reducing-triangle cutting action that prevents fraying. Line and cable remain intact, allowing an easy and sure fit into cable crimps, hook eyes and other terminal tackle.

The Tri-Shear is available in two sizes.

The Tri-Shear 92968, which comes with a lanyard and holster, retails for $59.99 and is suitable for braided Kevlar and Spectra lines up to 200-pound-test, monofilament up to 300-pound-test and single-strand wire up to 240-pound-test.

The larger Tri-Shear 92943 also comes with a lanyard and holster and retails for $69.99. The 92943 will cut braid up to 200-pound-test, mono up to 600-pound-test and single strand up to 400-pound-test.
